Lystra’s Vision for Inclusivity & Empowerment
As we enter our 6th year in business, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that brought me here. Moving to Canada as an immigrant at age six taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, family values, and the importance of hard work. My story is one of overcoming challenges, staying committed to my dreams, and helping others achieve their own transformation.
Growing up, we weren’t wealthy, and the concept of “needs before wants” was a fundamental lesson that shaped my approach to life. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and after spending 17 years in healthcare administration, working side jobs in everything from wedding cakes to serving at banquet halls, I realized that my true calling was in aesthetics. The turning point came when I began doing lashes from home, and I instantly felt the joy of helping others feel beautiful and confident. I dove deeper into aesthetics, taking courses on the side, and when the time came, I knew it was time to make the leap into this world full time.
In 2019, I purchased my first laser device and rented a small treatment room, eager to begin this new chapter. But just as my business began to take flight, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and everything came to a halt. Like so many small businesses, the shutdown was a devastating blow. But I didn’t let that stop me. Instead, I used the time to refine my skills, expand my knowledge, and stay connected with potential clients through social media. The mantra I carried through it all was simple: “Failure is not an option.”
At Radiance, inclusivity has always been at the heart of our brand. As someone who grew up in a predominantly Caucasian neighborhood, I know what it feels like to not quite fit in. That experience drove me to create a space where everyone—regardless of gender, background, or identity—feels welcomed, respected, and cared for. In fact, our Statement of Inclusivity was written before our mission and vision statements were even established.
Fast-forward to 2025, and Radiance Laser Clinic has grown into a thriving business, now with its own storefront in a medical building and four fully equipped treatment rooms. We offer an array of services designed to enhance your beauty, health, and wellness goals. As we continue to grow, I’m excited to see what the future holds for Radiance and for the many people whose lives we get to touch.
